Descriptive note: |
Each butt gives the following information: number, date, prisoner's number, name, ship, its master, year of arrival, religion, native place, trade or calling, offence, place of trial, date of trial, sentence, year of birth, height, complexion, colour of hair, colour of eyes, any remarks, with whom prisoner is to reside, and where. Notes of alterations or cancellations of tickets are on all the butts giving the dates thereof.
In the first volume the butts have been filled in and exemption granted but no ticket torn out for issue. Much of the volume is completely unused. The second and third volumes have been used completely (with all tickets torn out). The fourth volume has not been used completely. The last volume is completely unused.
Also in the first volume, inside the front cover, there is a note referring to those granted exemptions prior to the commencement of the volume.
An index has been prepared by State Records and is available at COD515. An index to 4/4283-85 and the Registers of exemption from government labour (4/4061-62) is also available on SR Fiche 1001.
